Ihezie Foundation

One of humankind’s greatest gifts to the next generation is to provide the means whereby students can receive a good education. Helping to achieve that amazing objective are books that inspire students to learn, to gain a skill or just to enjoy. Helping to make that dream come true is the mission of Ihezie Foundation.

Ihezie Foundation is a UK registered charity working to donate books to primary schools in the UK, and to schools, universities and libraries in Africa. Our book donations focus on literacy and academic development, ranging from primary and secondary schools through to tertiary education.

Our aim is to increase literacy and numeracy and to enhance the educational experience of students. Repeated studies have shown that, in addition to improving lifelong education and learning opportunities, books provide very real support to children’s mental health and overall wellbeing. With the ever-present shadow of COVID 19, there has never been a more important time to ensure that children have continued access to books.

Ihezie Foundation has donated over 160,000 carefully selected children’s books to primary schools in London, including schools in the boroughs of Wandsworth, Isleworth, Lewisham and Lambeth, as well as to primary schools in Milton Keynes and elsewhere in Buckinghamshire.

And in Africa, in the last 3 years, Ihezie Foundation has donated over 650,000 education books and textbooks to schools and universities in Nigeria and Liberia.

The comments we have received from some of the teachers who have received these books demonstrate the huge value they place on these donations:

“We are overwhelmed with the amount and quality of the books donated. We want to express just what an impact the donation has made and how grateful the children are. With electronic devices becoming more prevalent in children’s lives we want to encourage the children to read books, as this helps them to expand their use of language and vocabulary”

    Water Hall Primary School

“The Literacy Lead was thrilled as she was struggling to stretch her very small budget to meet the wider needs of the curriculum whilst knowing there was a moral/ethical need for our most vulnerable pupils. As the Headteacher, I am just really grateful and amazed that such a charity is willing to help us.”

    Willen Primary School

“The donation by Ihezie Foundation has increased the range of books available for our children, ensuring that our children are enabled to have a rich and motivating supply of texts, fostering a love of books, reading and learning within our pupils.”

    Wyvern School

“As a one form entry school, our budget is tight (and reducing), and we have identified reading as a priority on our School Development Plan. We are working to encouraging a love of reading for all of our pupils and this has been helped by an influx of new and exciting donated books.”
